Couchwarden protects your PC from accidental input.
The cat walks across the keyboard. The toddler grabs the mouse. Your sleeve mashes keys while you reach for the remote. Couchwarden sits quietly in the tray and makes sure none of it lands — while everything you do goes straight through.
Microsoft Store — coming soonWhy "Couch"warden?
Because that's where it was born. Working from the couch or the bed — laptop on the armrest, wireless keyboard beside you, mousepad balanced on one knee — is real computing, and the desk-shaped software world pretends it isn't.
You know the moment: you shift to type with both hands, the mouse slides off your knee and clicks on impact — closing the spreadsheet with two hours of your work in it. Or you come back to a keyboard whose backlight went to sleep, press one invisible key to wake it, and that key lands — in a chat box, a terminal, a game.
Couchwarden exists for exactly those moments: lock the mouse that's one drop away from ruining your evening and type with both hands in peace; let the first keystroke after idle be swallowed instead of sent. Small guards, quietly on duty, for the way you actually sit and work — or play.
Two hours of work. One dropped mouse.
Couch, laptop, mouse balanced on your knee. A normal evening.
You reach to type with both hands — and it slips.
It clicks on impact. The spreadsheet closes — two hours, gone.
Couchwarden had the mouse locked. Nothing moved. Nothing lost.
What it does
- Idle keystroke suppression — after your keyboard goes idle, stray keypresses are swallowed until you're clearly back. Sliding, fixed, or disabled (gaming) grace modes.
- Mouse lockdown — one hotkey freezes movement, clicks, and wheel entirely. Wipe the screen, foil the cat, hand the room to the kids.
- Keyboard lockdown — hard-swallows every keystroke until you unlock it. Clean the keys, let the toddler "type", leave the cat in charge — nothing gets through. Unlockable by hotkey or the tray, so you're never stranded.
- Lock pills that stay honest — while anything is locked, a corner pill says so and shows how long it's been on. Point at it and it fades out of your way; park it in whichever corner you like.
- Block clicks while typing — a click that lands mid-keystroke is usually a knee or a dropped wrist, not intent. Optional guard swallows it; movement and scrolling always pass.
- Screen, held or slept — keep the display awake through a movie (always, or only while something fullscreen is up — a dot on the tray icon shows when the hold is real), or put the monitor to sleep right now with one hotkey.
- Grab-anywhere window control — hold a modifier and drag from any point of a window to move it; resize, minimize, restore, and set transparency with the same gesture family. No hunting for title bars.
- Cursor auto-hide — the pointer disappears when idle or while you type, and returns the instant you move.
- Restore last window — a window moved or resized by accident snaps back to exactly where it started with one hotkey.
- One quiet tray icon — every feature toggles from a clean dark menu. Configurable hotkeys throughout. No console window, no clutter.
